The Waterside Safety Code:

  • Keep your eyes and ears open for danger. Water can be cold and deep with dangerous currents.
  • Always go with an adult when near water. Stay close to the rest of the group and stay in sight at all times.
  • Don't wade into water unless an adult tells you it is safe to do so. Never go deeper than welly depth.
  • Don't splash water at other people or push them over.
  • Cover any cuts and scratches with waterproof plasters and rubber gloves before you start work in the water.
  • Don't get the water or wet objects in your mouth.
  • Don't eat or drink whilst working. Wash your hands in tap water after work.
